This week has been kind of crazy. Two of the 5 nights I was unable to sleep soundly and woke up 4-5times in 7 or 8 hour time period. It was not that my mind was wondering or that it wouldn't shut off. Its hard to explain but nevertheless it was unwanted seeing how I now have a sinus cold and all I want to do is go sleep.
Wednesday night I had a dream about my mom. It was in the house her and Alan lived in for several years throughout elementary school and into middle school out in Peoria.
I was the same age as now and she was exactly like I remember. It wasn't much or profound but I was gathering my things. My mom walked over to help and make sure I had everything (like I am sure she did so many times growing up when Ashlyn and I would visit). And of course because it was one of my dreams it didn't make sense as to why I was getting pots and pans to take home out of the shelves below the island like counter that was in the kitchen at the house.
It is hard to put into words the interaction I had with my mom. It was Sweet. Simple. Tender. And more than anything one of the favorite kinds of interactions I used to have with my mom. (no, not packing my stuff up to leave). The tone of the dream when she popped in was one that I associate mornings at my mom's house with. It would usually be quiet because we would all still be waking up and I would go in the kitchen and be with her if she was making breakfast (and sometimes this would be true of evenings and making dinner but usually we had more energy and were laughing about something).
We wouldn't be talking about much (or at least the conversations we had were never what I remember) but it was the time together and the calmness and peacefulness of that time. (lets be honest, I had lots of siblings and it was always loud in the house so these times were set apart).
I woke up Thursday morning to my alarm content (tired, yes but content nonetheless). I got up and went to take a shower. When I showering the mornings it helps wake me up and I think about what I dreamed about and what I will be doing that day. As I remembered/realized I had dreamed about my mom, I felt happy. It was nice. Yes it was sad cause she isn't here but unlike dreams I had soon after her death last year, I did not have to wake up and remind myself that she is gone, I just know that she is. The dream was a good thing.
I was blessed by that dream in more ways than I can explain. And I am continually reminded of how much I miss her.

bug bites and more...nothing normal
Oh man oh man. It is great to say that this week I felt like a normal human being seeing how I was able to go to bed at a decent time each night and get up and function. Life has just been crazy busy and this week was nice to be normal for once.
Normal is kind of a funny word, since we make up what we assume to be how things should be. Normal is whatever we determine normal to be.
My bodies ability to stay healthy is far from normal. Normal would be getting the flu or a cold or pink eye. My body is not normal, it goes above and beyond to make sure that I stay healthy. I have NOT had the flu since I was a little kid (maybe 7years old). And this is why I will never get the shot. Why put a virus in my body that doesn't have it in it now. I have NEVER had strep. (The one time that I thought I was getting strep they tested me but I didn't have it. I dont have allergies and I dont get colds more than maybe twice a year.
Trust me you cannot just chalk it up to me not being around people that are sick. I worked with kids in high school and I work with them now. I work at a University as well with lots of germs. When I was in school in CO there were many times my roommates had the flu and whatever else and I would go untouched. That is not just luck folks.
BUT all good things are not perfect. My body is lacking in certain areas...my ability to process antibiotics is VERY and I mean VERY limited. I know I have shared about any infection I might get and taking medicines that mess with my stomach. Really I just have a weak stomach and can get the 24hour stomach flu/ get sick from food easier than most.
Also I get weird things. In Kindergarten I did not go to school for 2 weeks because I had these red bumbs similar to chicken pox (but they we not) that spread all over my body after I had a ring worm looking thing on my leg. (it was not ring worm). Two doctors and a dermatologist later we found out it was NOT contagious and I had missed school for no reason. And that it would just go away on its own.
And when I do get things like little infections that others may get and its not to uncommon I get the certain type that is found in woman over 50yrs old or whatever and it takes 3weeks to go away due to the wrong medicine being prescribed because I didn't have the most common type of infection.
This week was far from normal when it comes to health. It started Saturday morning with a swollen red upper eyelid on my right eye. The swelling went down but my eye was still feeling funny and I didn't wear my contacts. I think Friday and Saturday I noticed on the crest of my helix (on the ear) I had some scabbing or crusting and it was tender. I picked it away and the next day it was back even worse. Sunday evening I noticed a bite mark on my hip almost on my underwear line. It looked just like a mosquito bite but different still and it felt different to the touch. I thought okay try not to scratch and it will go away.
The bite lessened and wasn't super noticeable and I stopped thinking about it. The eye was less swollen as well but I kept contacts out until Wednesday morning to give it time to heal. Wednesday I realized I had little white bumps on the eye underside of the eye lid. I have not been able to wear contacts yet, without it being irritated but I think its going away. The ear was treated by some alcohol and Neosporin action and is all good today. All sounds good right. Not so fast folks. The bug bite on my hip is now inflamed and red and hurts worse and is irritated. Just another day in the life of Megan I supposed. But super annoying.
I would take the strep or flu over this any day. I hate constantly having to guess what is wrong. Hopefully with some medicine for the bite and a few more days cleaning my eyes well and not wearing contacts I will be good Monday. If not, maybe I will need to go to the doctors...we will see.

Just a few Engagement Pictures! :)
So so blessed to have Holly Christian take our pictures. Even though it is just a hobby as of now, she is Amazing and we are so excited to have her be our wedding photographer.
75 days!
I cannot even tell you how excited I was to get to stand in the middle of the road and take some of these pictures with the trees covering the road. The prettiest place in Waco for sure.
We were glad to have Andy watching for cars :) |
I may have climbed a tree... |

Long week
Good things about this week:
-Flowers ordered
-Food Finalized
-Colors picked for invitations
-Dress picked up
-Engagement pictures done (which are amazing!!)
-Went and looked at the church and figured out what we need to do as far as the church goes.
Whats on the list for this weekend?
-Registering at 3 stores (Friday and Saturday)
-Finalize the guest list (yes this has been on our list for the last 3 weeks to finish up, and each week we look at it yet we still need to cut people). I hope people are understanding and not hateful. There is now fire under us to make us finish it since Venita needs an invitation count and we need to get those out by March 1st! :)
-Revisit the budget and make sure we are good(this is a weekly thing for us...)
Big things still to do:
-figure out how to decorate for the reception
-finalize the cake
-get dress altered
-take bridal pictures
-and so much more I am sure
The other day I started thinking about packing and everything I will need/bring down to Killeen for the wedding and then also the honeymoon and it definitely overwhelmed me A LOT! ha. one step at a time and that is last on my list...
