Brian and I have had a busy summer. We thought it would slow down with him mostly out of school (one class not three) but we have found things to keep our summer full. I am grateful for time with friends, family, the garden, my sewing machine and date nights with each other.
Brian has become quite the handy man. He fixed my car and then two days later had to work on his car. What could have been 500+ cost us just about $250 because he did it himself.
A few weekends ago we drove to MD and PA for some time with family on my side. Not only did we get to see one of my cousins that I had not seen in 6 or 7 years we were able to celebrate with her at her baby shower. This is the first grandchild on my dad's side of the family. We of course ate fresh caught and cooked crab thanks to my awesome uncles.
Saturday we headed up to PA. Following my two uncles and some cousins. We went all around Johnstown as my uncle showed his girlfriend and her daughters where he grew up. We of course ate at the famous Coney Island and Anne's Pizza!

The Orr family (my dad's mom's side) Reunion was Sunday. It was great to see a lot of people that I have not seen in 8 years (since the last reunion). Some of which live up in Cincinnati which is not too far from us and we hope to go visit.
We stayed with my other grandparents (dad's dad) since they are summering in PA. Thanks to my grandma Frazer's hard working we were able to take a gallon size Ziploc baggie full of blueberries home. I made zucchini blueberry muffins, pumpkin zucchini bread and blueberry waffles already!
We ended the weekend with an hour detour to see Flight 93 Memorial Monday as we drove back to KY.

Last weekend I spent two hours picking blackberries at our "secret place" that lets you pick for free when you give half of what you pick to the winery. I was able to take enough to make about 9 pints of blackberry jam! Yum! :)
Some other things which have kept us busy:
|
Lots of yummy veggies from the garden! |
|
Cantaloupe! |
|
Sunday Nights with the Muesing Boys! |
|
Painting an accent wall in our living room! Yay for some color :) |
Some fun new clutches and bags I made!
|
yummy pizza made with fresh basil and tomatoes from the garden!
All and all I think it has been a busy, but fun ending to the summer. This week getting down into the 50s at night and only up in the 70s during the day has reminded us that Fall is on its way :) |
